Building the website: Site Mascot

I'm a massive google fan boy. I love the whole business model. Who care if they have all my search information details and know what my favorite food and color is. Google Docs has saved me so much effort in group work, the Android OS for smart phones is a sexy beast and even this blog is powered by google.

For the website I wanted to design a mascot and the reason I'm raving about Google so much all of a sudden is because I wanted something similar to the android mascot. Maybe not lime green (I just realised how similar the two look in terms of simplicity and color so I will go back and change the original mascot from lime green. I wanted a color that was Australian but I don't think Green and Gold are going to suit the mascot for this).

Below is a design of what I have in mind for the mascot. A simple handheld console with a large smiley face that can be used for a number of expressions. This mascot would be displayed in the website logo at the top of the page.
As another homage to the Google Android mascot, I will be posting different versions of the mascot during different weeks to help build on the websites theme and to draw awareness to newly posted content on the website. Kinda like how Google changes there own logo during certain celebrations (for example they changed the Google logo on the homepage to look like Pacman to celebrate the anniversary of the video game Pacman).

Above are a few examples of the alternative designs for the Google Android and below are a alternative few designs for my currently nameless Mascot based of popular video game characters. I'll let people who are reading my blog guess which is which. I'm pretty annoyed with how the last one turned out and it probably should be a rule that I try and keep each design simple to make the mascot cute and more attractive for the website.

Leave a comment if you can guess them all. All of them are based on recently released or up coming video games.
