Alright so its been a few weeks since I've written a solid update in this blog regarding the project.
One of my friends who goes by the online persona Melancholy has expressed interest in the project. I'm not going to mention every friend that expresses interest in the project (been in Information Technology there are a fair few), however I have worked him in the past on some successful projects (we made a few short films together back in High School). He is a person that 'gets it done'. One of those people. And to use his words "that's awesome, that would give me a great excuse to play through some of my video game back catalogue".
One of the things that came up during yesterday’s discussion between my course co (who will now be known as CC as to not to google bomb them) and "Melancholy" was the need for a criteria to review the video games on. If I plan on asking people to review video games (and to have a serious slant on it), I need to have a template that they can use to mark against each video game. Kinda like how teachers mark student projects (and how they should give HD's...*wink).
Below are some scans from some long out of print magazines (while I won't upload them to the website and I don't claim them as my own) I'll be using them for reference for my own guide.
Scans are a bit dodgy because I was using the University Scanner at the CityHub.
These were just some of the reviews I looked at. I also noticed a decline in the level of detail in interviews. Magazines from the 90's/early 2000's will go into depth on what criteria they mark video games on, as oppose to magazines published today which will just have number scores usually out of 5 or 10.
Below is a table I have created based of some of my favorite review systems which I will use for the website. I believe it covers the key bases and will refine it if needed over the next week.
Now time for some sleep :P
